What motivates you to be a Cypress Ambassador?
As a Cypress Ambassador, I have the opportunity to actively engage with the community to discuss technical topics, such as exploring new features and addressing challenges. I also get chances to share best practices and gather valuable feedback from a diverse group of users. Additionally, I enjoy providing assistance to users, helping them troubleshoot issues and expand their knowledge of Cypress.
How do you currently help others that are either using Cypress or interested in using Cypress?
Within the company, I organize workshops to introduce new Cypress features to team members and assist them in resolving any challenges they encounter while using the tool. Additionally, I contribute by writing blogs that offer tips and best practices for utilizing Cypress effectively.
What is your favorite Cypress feature?
The Test Replay feature in Cypress is particularly valuable for me, especially when investigating failures within CI/CD pipelines. Its ability to eliminate the need for logging messages and provide a streamlined process for checking consoles greatly enhances efficiency. This feature effectively simulates the experience of running tests locally, making it an indispensable tool in my testing workflow.
What is your favorite "Cypress Best Practice" and why?
Encouraging front-end developers to incorporate test-specific locators for web elements is a key best practice I advocate. This approach enhances test stability by mitigating the impact of page changes, as these locators remain static. Moreover, adhering to standardized locators enables me to design frameworks and develop test cases even before the UI is fully implemented, streamlining the testing process.
Outside of work, what are your favorite things to do (hobbies, passions, etc.)?
I am a fan of Sports, I watch basketball and football games when I have time.
What is one professional milestone you are proud of? (an accomplishment, celebration, recognition, etc.)
In my current role, I successfully led the migration of our legacy automation framework to Cypress from scratch. Subsequently, I have continued to enhance and refine this framework to ensure its effectiveness in meeting our testing requirements. This experience has not only demonstrated my proficiency in automation but also my ability to adapt and improve existing processes.
For new users - what is the best way to "get started" with Cypress?
Start using it, you will love it. No need to worry about different frameworks for UI and API.
